iMedia 1 – Camera Shots

Using the list of camera shots below, find a photo to illustrate each type of camera shot. Use the names of the shots and the photos to create an 11×17 size poster in Photoshop to explain the shots to beginning film/photography students

Basic Camera Shot types:

  1. Extreme Wide Shots(EWS) act to establish the area aka Establishing shot
  2. Wide Shots(WS) show the entire person or area.  They’re great for establishing the scene and allow for good action of the characters.  Sometimes this is known as the long shot.
  3. Medium Shots (MS) frame the subject from the waist up.  This is the most common shot and allows for hand gestures and motion.
  4. Medium Close Ups (MCU) shots show the subject in more detail and are often framed from just below the shoulders to the top of the head.
  5. Close Ups (CU) show a particular part of your subject.  For people this usually means the shot frames just the head or hands.
    1. Extreme Close Ups (ECU) are much tighter close-up shots in which you get detail greater than the human eye might be able to normally perceive.  An example of this shot might be of the mouth and eyes together
    2. Two Shot:This is a shot of two peoples (or other individuals) together.
    3. High/Low Angle Shot: This is a shot from above or below used sometimes to show who is more powerful.
    4. Over the Shoulder Shots (OTS) are shot from behind the person towards their subject.  Generally the frame is cut off just behind the ear, although there are several variations.  A good technique to use to get this shot is to frame the person facing the subject with about one third of the frame.

We need you for our next video!!!

Interactive Media Class is making a lib dub of sorts to the song Summer Nights by Rascal Flats.  What is a lip dub? Well check this one out!

Cypress Ranch High School Anti-Bullying Lip Dub “Who Do U Think U R?” (view At home)

The Song  (view At home)

Summer Nights by Rascal Flats

General Idea

Similar to the lip dub by Cypress Ranch – we would like all clubs/teams/groups of friends/etc. to have a representative(s) in the video.

We would like to start the song in the school like it’s the last day of school and then have the students spill outside into the parking lot outside of the PAC – with a whole block party feel. We are thinking coolers, grilles, kites, roller blades, slip n slides, sidewalk chalk hula hoops, lawn chairs, kiddy pool the WORKS!!!!

The plan is to split the song up into pieces of 3-4 lines and assign them to groups of people (hopefully groups teams clubs minimum of 3 people) then discuss their ideas for props and activities during their short lines and have them come and lip sync their lines in the video.

Planning Meetings

2 planning meetings will be held right after school on April 19th and April 26th in Room E23!

Practice

We will practice Wednesday May 2, Thursday May 3 4.

As long as somebody from your group can be there on all the days you can be in it!!
